3 Nights in Grand Cayman: part 3 Sting Ray City

3 Nights in Grand Cayman: part 3 Sting Ray City

The weather started getting rough and we thought SRC might not be on our agenda.

Ahh but we made it out on the water and Capt’n Marvin’s tour didn’t let us down. The rain was still coming our way but we would pass through it rather quickly. The boat headed out into the bay towards the sandbar that makes up Sting Ray City.  There were 2 people who thought it would be cool to si ton the bow of the boat. Well we headed through the bad weather to head to SRC and lets just say they found themselves drenched before ever getting in the water.

According to the Tour guide Captain Marvin use to take people out fishing and snorkeling. They would cut the fish up and chill on the sand bar. It attracted the sting rays and after years and years of doing so the ray came to get use to people and return to Sting Ray City year after year. Basically Captain Marvin supposedly discovered SRC and has been in business since 1951.

They’ll come right up to you and let you hold them. It’s freaking amazing. They say if you kiss a ray you’ll have 7 years good luck. Of all the in water things I have done the wading with the sting rays was amazing. We headed next to do some reef snorkeling at to separate spots, Coral Gardens, Barrier Reef. I will always remember the trip to SRC and the photos here will prove it.

Yes! Stingray City and the snorkel trip was definitely the highlight of our trip for me, and I highly recommend Capt. Marvin’s Water sports, they were very good and reasonably priced!
